Important results from the project

The project has aimed to evaluate the prerequisites for arranging summer schools for international PhD students in metal working during the years 2015-2017. Participating companies have expressed much interest in developing contact surfaces for international recruitment. The aim to strengthen the region´s attractiveness as a place for working and living is relevant, and summer schools would contribute to this. The companies support an application for further financing of summer schools in 2015-2017 according to plan. The project aim can therefore be considered to be achieved.

Expected long term effects

In accordance with the application the following deliverables are reported: - a survey of summer schools in other subject areas. - preliminary curriculum for a summer school intended to take place in 2015. - a plan or marketing the summer school internationally. - a plan for dissemination of participants´ progress and results. - agreements on planned company visits in accordance with the presented curriculum. - agreement on continued cofinancing. The companies have expressed an intention to make a yearly contribution of 80 hours each for implementation of the summer school.

Approach and implementation

Facing project implementation participating companies were contacted and invited to discuss the prerequisites for carrying out summer schools in 2015-2017. At a project meeting on 28 november 2014, prerequisites, possible setups as well as plans for marketing, dissemination and company visits was discussed. Project aims were discussed and a preliminary surriculum was presented and developed in accordance with participants´ input. In addition, comprehensive effort was taken to discuss and anchor the project with participating companies.
