Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The purpose of this project was to develop and evaluate a phase array antenna for a satcom terminal. The antenna was based on a new type of circular-polarized antenna topology and this was integrated together with active electronics to finally be verified in a measuring chamber.
Expected long term effects
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** Gapwaves has designed and validated new designs of satellite communication antennas and modules through simulations and measurements. They provide unmatched performance in the K (for reception) and Ka (for transmission) bands for broadband services through low/medium orbit satellites, while being implemented with a simple structure and resulting low manufacturing costs.
Approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project has been carried out in a number of phases. First, an antenna alone was constructed and passively verified. A complete phase array module was then constructed with active circuits which were integrated together with the antenna on a PCB. Certain deviations have been identified during validation of the antenna module, which is why full performance has not yet been met within the scope of the project. The work therefore continues after the project has been closed.
