Important results from the project
The project Production Excellence in Small and Medium-sized manufacturing Enterprises (PEXiSME) contributes, and will contribute i phase 2, with knowledge in the field of organizational innovations; and particularly contribute with knowledge and methodology that support SME to successfully implement organizational innovations (primarily lean-oriented). PEXiSME has identified prerequisites needed for successful and sustainable development work, and a project plan for phase 2 is formulated.
Expected long term effects
Based on experiences from previous development and a systematic review of literature, the result from the first step of PEXiSME is a research plan including development initiatives. The research plan is presented and further described in the application sent for a second step of the research project.
Approach and implementation
The was carried out jointly by JTH, LIU, HIS, APeL, IDC West Sweden, The Production Leap (PL) and in total eight small and medium-sized manufacturing companies. One of the starting points were evaluations of development initiatives within IDC and PL. We have carried out in total 24 interviews and a joint workshop. We have identified relevant groups of prerequisites for successful and sustainable development work in SME and based on these a number of development initiatives are formulated in the companies.
