Important results from the project

Peak Innovation has a national mandate to lead a growth process in tourism, sports and recreation. This by encouraging research, innovation and business development within and between these sectors. The vision is that the region of Jämtland will be a world leading location for research and business development in tourism, sport and outdoor.

Expected long term effects

Peak Innovation (PI) has contributed to the development of a platform and an approach that meets the demands from regional, national and international companies and organizations on research and development. During the period PI has taken a more central role in the areas of tourism, sports and the outdoors in the national innovation system. One example is that the PI hosts the work with a national innovation agenda called Future of Sports. PI has developed the target group companies innovation skills through a stronger cooperation with the university and test facilities.

Approach and implementation

PI has been the link between the areas tourism, sports and the outdoors as well as the business demands and challenges. The analysis is that these three areas have been increasingly integrated and thus have been linked together in activities. Each area had a project leader who was linked to the three research environments Etour, NVC and STRC at Mid Sweden University. This proved to enhanced joint collaborations which also strengthened collaboration for common future strategies and opportunities to take on grand challenges .
