Important results from the project
The project objective is to develop new methods that can be employed in passive and multistatic radar systems. The research in the project includes the areas system performance, suppression of ground clutter and analyses of target identifiability in passive and multistatic radar. Several new methods have been developed. Of these, two should be considered breakthroughs in the research. The project has generated 25 publications, reports and presentations as well as a licentiate thesis and a doctoral thesis. The project has also contributed to other project and applications.
Expected long term effects
The goal of the technical work in the project has been to carry out studies and development of new methods for passive and multistatic radar systems. As several new methods have been developed, the technical goal of the project has been met. Two of the methods can also be described as breakthroughs in the research. The project has led to significantly improving both parties´ knowledge concerning these types of systems. This also contributes that the parties should become more attractive in collaborations, both national and international.
Approach and implementation
The project has been carried out in close cooperation between parties. Chalmers has led two of the work packages and Saab has led the other two. Weekly meetings have been an important part of this strategy. Parts that are related to modeling and algorithm development have been driven by Chalmers with input from Saab. Parts that have been of a more descriptive nature of relevant scenarios and models for more hardware-related parts have been operated by Saab. Evaluation of experiment data has also been led by Saab. This division is visible in the definition of the work packages in the project.
