Important results from the project
The purpose and object of the feasability study has been to investigate the possibility to develop a system for accurate control and optimization of the slab grinding process. The target to lay the foundation of further development has been reached.
Expected long term effects
The feasability study was not aimed at and has not resulted in a product or method that is ready for the market or to be used in production. Achieved knowledge can however already today be used for better control of the grinding process using already available techniques. The largest impact will come in the future after further development of the technique.
Approach and implementation
The feasability study was divided between studies of useable optimization and measurement methods and their requisities. This was done by market analysis, study visits, data analysis, pilot and production tests. Results from these led to conclusions regarding demands that should be fulfilled by a future system and knowledge about how such a system should work.
