Important results from the project

The purpose was to secure intellectual property and expand the geographical coverage of existing intellectual property. Ophena is very grateful for the support from Vinnova, thanks to this opportunity Ophena has significantly strengthened its position in regards to intellectual property. During the project Ophena has become a more established brand on the market, protecting the company´s assets is an essential part of building a competitive and sustainable company. Thanks to the project Ophena has also gained a lot of internal knowledge to be used in future IP related questions.

Expected long term effects

Furthermore, Ophena has strengthened its intellectual property position on the market. This was done through the completion of the two activities within the project. Activity 1: The patent application for innovative insole was well executed. The result from the FTO was positive, the material was compiled and the patent application submitted. Activity 2: Geographical expansion of existing intellectual property protection was also well executed. Ophena now possess trademark protection within and the US. Further we have applied to extend our Swedish patent to a European patent.

Approach and implementation

During the course of the project, we took a decision together with Vinnova to change the strategy of the project in order to reach the goal. Instead of the intended consulting services, the main part of the work was executed by the business developers at Ophena. The change resulted in higher efficiency and that Ophena now has more in-depth knowledge of its current intellectual property position. Furthermore, Ophena has strengthened its intellectual property position in the market.
