Purpose and goal
To support industry requirements, core standards and established modeling and simulation tools must scale better with model size and complexity, cope with increasing dimensionality, enable more generic solutions that are configurable and adaptable to their execution environment. Another goal is to standardize uncertainty quantification of model parameters for correct interpretation of the simulation results.
Expected effects and result
OpenSCALING will extend the open standards Modelica, FMI, eFMI, SSP, DCP and related toolchains to meet the above challenges for virtual construction and operation of future sustainable systems.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will work on tool support for efficient array- and loop-preserving code generation and aspect-oriented object diagrams, support for physics-enhanced neural ODEs, dynamic connectivity causality, array sizes, and neural network parameterization of FMI models. The tool and standard extensions will be driven by use cases developed in collaboration with the industrial end-users in the consortium and validated on two demonstrators in the building and transport sectors.
