Important results from the project
The aim is to create technical solutions, modules, municipalities, businesses and individuals can use in order to share, use and promote open data. The overall goal is that more organizations in a technical easy way to share their data. One of the goals is to build technical solutions that work for municipalities and counties with standard systems for real estate. Second milestone is to identify the five most common standard systems / formats for building modules for these and tillgängligöra data to researchers.
Expected long term effects
We currently conduct cooperation with local governments in Sweden, several companies and organizations. Through our network the project during the project period started work on opening data sources in more than 5 organizations. In 2014, we anticipate that we will open the data sources in 2-4 counties and three municipalities. We were too optimistic in terms of how quickly the local government works when it comes to open data. They want to open data to the public, it takes time because decision-making and technical considerations that require many people involved.
Approach and implementation
The arrangement was the right thought basically we got into collaboration with three R & D projects using the API within the project participants in the project were both Swedish and foreign universities and companies. It was a good test bed for the development. We also interviewed the developers and improved API and documentation based on their observations. API, tools for demo data retreival and documentation is available online free to use for the organization and the public.
