Important results from the project
The goal was to provide some of the indicators for which the Environmental Protection Agency is responsible. The aim was also to show how other environmental authorities can provide their indicators in a consistent and standardized manner. Work has started at both a strategic and an operational level and a technical platform as well as a standard API has been developed.
Expected long term effects
This work has resulted in a technology platform for publishing and making open data available via a standardized interface. API for Emissions Figures and Emissions to Air per Sector have been developed. The project has cooperated with the Vinnova project Datajournalistik within the call Utmaningsdriven Innovationa and made API/data available for the SVT Pejl and Fajkhack. The project has been presented at several conferences.
Approach and implementation
Data from EPA and other environmental agencies are interesting for several target groups. Meanwhile, the data is broad, multi-faceted and can be difficult to understand for the uninitiated. The project has shown how environmental data can be published in a standardized way. However, there is a need to further describe the data to make it understandable to others. There is also a need to develop processes and procedures within the relevant authorities to further work on making data available.
