The aim of Norrlandicus Care Lab is to develop, test and commercialize methods, practices and technologies that improve life and empowerment of the elderly living at home. Impact goals are to contribute to new knowledge, processes, products and services that will lead to improved quality of life for senior citizens. This feasibility study consists of multi-professional workshops and process meetings, where stakeholders conceptualize different parts of Norrlandicus Care Lab; i.e. Requirements & quality, Design of an Open Innovation model and The innovation process.

Expected long term effects

The effects of the prestudy is stated as the effects of the implementation project. The effects regarding the conceptualization of NCL has exceeded our expectations. The project has rendered a broad scientific- and business confirmation in the region showing its relevence and validity. The regional innovation system confirms how NCL fits and compliment its ongoing work. The dept of social services confirms the urgency of the project. Thanks to the exploratory study, the dept. of social services has identified its own innovation process, where NCL is an embedded and focal area.

Approach and implementation

During the exploratory study a number of meetings and workhops has been held to find a common strategy of implementing Norrlandicus Care Lab (NCL). Some conclusions has been made. NCL will and can be an open innovation platform by providing a unique evaluation method that can be adaped by other test environments and/or living labs. The concept of the Norrlandicus method will be managed by a consortium of stakeholders.
