Important results from the project

The purpose of the project has been to create the conditions for a sustainable and robust water supply for Tjörns municipality. Furthermore, the project aimed to develop a prototype based on smart water meters and a secure and adaptable municipality-wide IoT platform adapted for the small municipality. Tjörn now has a prototype IoT platform in place and has started collecting and analyzing data from a couple of different test areas. VA operations and the municipality in general have taken great strides forward in their digital maturity.

Expected long term effects

1) Tjörns has a potentially scalable IoT prototype platform in place 2) 1500 water meters have been installed at Tjörn 3) Data is collected and analyzed from two test areas 4) The VA organization has strengthened its digital maturity and taken great strides forward to work more proactively on the water leakage 5) The VA organization has begun to develop its organization by working more strategically and data-driven 6) Continuous dissemination of knowledge to other municipalities has taken place Expected effects forth are that we´re now ready to scale up the work in an implementation.

Approach and implementation

The project involved a large number of people who worked both operationally and strategically. In total, more than 60 people have been involved in the project in various ways. A core team of about 20 people worked with the 7 work packages that were defined in the project. We have worked in an exploratory and agile way where we had sprint review meetings every 3 weeks to synchronize the work in the various focus areas but also spread learning and transparency throughout the entire project process. This has worked extremely well and has been extremely appreciated by all participating parties.
