Important results from the project
Through swedish high tech develop a method to produce cheaper and more efficient transparent Grätzel solar cells on glass and plastic (flexible) substrates.
Expected long term effects
Expected result is a highly efficient solar cell that challenges todays silicon wafer cells but is organic, costs 2USD/W installed and is transparent and flexible (produced on plastic or glass). Efficency targets are 10% on a single cell and 6% on a module or panel. The solar cell should deliver maximum efficiency also under poor light conditions such as indoor or on a cloudy day.
Approach and implementation
Step 1 is to finish the research that is performed in-house and with external industrial partners. parallel to this we will develop and optimize the photonic crystal and the porous TiO2. In cooperation with suitable partner we will then in step 2 develop a massproduction method for the photonic crystal so that it can be introduced in any massproduced Grätzel solar cell.
