Purpose and goal

The overarching goal of NEXTG2COM is to build a sustainable state-of- the-art intelligent network solutions, in order to solve complex and advanced use cases that are not supported by current communication network technologies. The aim is a paradigm shift from the pipeline network infrastructure as offered by 5G, into future fully integrated general purpose platforms, utilizing recent machine learning (ML) advancements for the next generation communication and computational infrastructures and applications.

Expected effects and result

NEXTG2COM provides technological solutions and explores architectural trade-offs on the boundary between infrastructures and applications. Consequently, we contribute both to near-term applications and standardizations as well as long- term paradigm shifts, thereby adding to Swedish industry competitiveness. Through integrated industry-academia research we will strengthen basic and advanced education.

Planned approach and implementation

The center will perform research and innovation, validate results in integrated demonstrators, hold education and training programs, and create arenas for technology transfer between a range of both national and international actors. As a result, platforms and knowledge developed within the center will enable industry, in particular SMEs, and public sector actors to build state-of- the-art intelligent network solutions, in order to solve complex and advanced use cases that are not supported by current communication network technologies.
