Important results from the project
The purpose of the project has been to analyze, develop and make visible sustainable models for how higher education institutions and municipalities can work together to increase access to higher education for people and places far from higher education institutions. The ambition has been to provide a knowledge base for political decisions and application in the area. Our assessment is that the project has fulfilled its purpose well through the knowledge base that has been produced and the dialogue with politicians and other stakeholders that has taken place during the project.
Expected long term effects
The project has been important in strengthening and raising the level of the national political discussion on access to higher education throughout the country. Communication and dialogue with politicians, as well as with stakeholders in both academia and the municipal sector, has been extensive. The project has delivered: 5 sub-reports 1 summary project report 2 dialogue meetings in the Swedish Parliament 2 seminars at the Political Week in Almedalen, Gotland 2 major national conferences Website www.nyavagar.se Facebook page with 475 followers
Approach and implementation
The project has been characterized by great commitment and an organic development over time. Initially, the plan was for a two year project period. Subsequently, the project was developed and expanded on both Vinnova´s and own initiative. In the end, the project ran for more than three years, was given an extended budget twice and added two work packages. The collaboration within the project has taken place through project meetings (a total of 9) and meetings in a designated management group. Continuous reporting has taken place to the relevant university management.
