Important results from the project

The ongoing initiative H2020 Next Generation Internet (NGI) aims to accelerate digital transformation of the society. The project comprises two main objectives: 1) to establish a national NGI node to disseminate information about the NGI initiative and funding opportunities in Sweden; 2) Identify and engage new groups of future applicants which may benefit from NGI funding and that are active within prioritised NGI topics. An NGI node has been established as a central information point, initially reaching out to 55 organizations with NGI-relevant activities.

Expected long term effects

We have carried out a first effort to survey the conditions for Swedish NGI involvement. In total 55 organizations have been initially contacted - 12 of them are positive to consider some kind of NGI commitment in the near future. To ensure wider involvement among Swedish organizations, continued work is required to inform about NGI. This is important because the development of NGI is ongoing throughout the EU. The maintenance of the NGI node, its information channels and contact network is a necessary tool for facilitating Swedish organizations to contribute to NGI.

Approach and implementation

The project started from preparation and surveying NGI-relevant organizations and contacts. This initial work was then taken further in terms of the following activities: the establishment of an NGI information page on the web; outreaches by email to relevant organizations, companies, etc; information posts on social media; meetings and workshops as well as feedback and follow-up discussions.
