Nanoplasmonic Optical Sensor Array for enhancing industrial water purification

Reference number
Coordinator INSPLORION AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration November 2017 - May 2018
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The primary goal (development of a business plan) was completed. NOSA is deemed best value for manufacturers and developers of ion exchange columns and resin materials, as well as for monitoring performance at end users. NOSA can be used as a tool for development and optimization of shape and function of ion exchange columns, an area where there are few competitors presently.

Expected long term effects

In the short term the project has resulted in a more complete understanding of the industrial water purification market. In the long term, NOSA4Water by Insplorion will be able to improve process water purification by facilitating development and optimization of this and next generation water purification technology. The NOSA system can also be applied within other applications, such as in ‘carbon capture’ or ‘controlled chemical release’ (monitoring interactions in porous materials).

Approach and implementation

The market for industrial water purification was mapped from a point of view of the most probable applications of NOSA4Water. Based on the market knowledge a business plan outlining the road to market, IPR-strategy, and necessary technical development was performed. Early phase trials were also initiated.
