Important results from the project

The purpose of the project ´Music as a tool in dementia care, web-based training program´ was to spread knowledge of use of music as a tool in dementia care. This training program offers a professional development opportunity to caregivers working with people with dementia. In addition to a web-based training program, a handbook with CD has also been developed.

Expected long term effects

The web-based training program is completed as planned and will be launched at a release conference on February 11 at Stallet, Stallgatan in Stockholm. In addition to a web-based training program, a handbook with CD has also been developed. Information about the project has been spread continuously during the project period, including a presentation at the Stockholm County Demensdag and through a poster presentation at an international conference in Cambridge.

Approach and implementation

The development of the web-based training program has, as planned, taken a year. Script writing has been done in parallel. Actors were hired and a graphic artist designed the training itself. The music was recorded by Länsmusiken. The training program is structured so that there are specific learning goals by check questions before moving on. This ensures to impart knowledge, not just information. In addition to a web-based training program, a handbook with CD has also been developed.
