Important results from the project

The overall objective of the project has been to reduce internationalization obstacles for innovative medical technology, with a focus on facilitating access to knowledge, international networks and funding. The method has often been to collaborate with Swedish and international support systems to give Swedish medtech SMEs increased access to these. At the same time, the project, through MT4H´s own network, has been able to assist our partners in increasing specialization in medical technology.

Expected long term effects

The project has been able to establish collaborations with a relevant selection of parties within the support systems for innovation and its internationalization. The project has contributed with a specialization and expertise in medtech, benefiting MT-SME:s. A ´Game Plan´, a kind of handbook for the Internationalization of innovative medtech, has been developed and disseminated via WSs and web, and also knowledge about EU support for MT innovation, business angels and investors. Medtech-SME´s have been helped with pitch training and European investor programs. etc., etc

Approach and implementation

The project has been led by KTH in collaboration with MT West, MT4H Nod Norr, RISE and Swecare. The project has methodically identified the needs and challenges of innovative MT-SMEs through an initial investigation and report. Three focus areas were defined Knowledge, Relevant contacts and Funding. By establishing collaborations with selected parties in the support systems for internationalization and innovation, the project has been able to contribute to the party activities increasing their degree of specialization and benefit for MT-SME.
