Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to describe, analyze and develop the innovation efforts of two municipalities: What kind of innovations are supported by the innovation support systems that municipalities develop? What characterizes the organizational conditions? How can the innovation support system and the organizational conditions evolve?
Expected long term effects
The project has direct relevance and benefits the participating municipalities since their change and development processes are strengthened and developed in collaboration with researchers through an interactive research approach. The project re-evaluates and develops knowledge about innovations in the public sector, in particular organizational conditions for innovation and innovative organization in the public sector. The project contributes in a unique way to theory development in the field of innovation.
Approach and implementation
The project was implemented in cooperation between researchers and representatives within the strong research and innovation environment HELIX VINN Excellence Centre. Two municipalities that have initiated systematic innovation efforts were represented by key actors with both strategic and operational responsibilities.
