Important results from the project
The purpose of this initiative is to integrate increased physical activity in Swedish schools to improve school outcomes and mental well-being. Furthermore, the purpose is to develop a new model for collaborative development work across public sector organizations. The project´s goal of delivering a complete program logic for a national intervention based on physical activity for improved school results has been attained and the program logic will be piloted in a number of public sector organizations in the next phase, 2019.
Expected long term effects
The result is a complete program logic for a national intervention using physical activity to improve school results. The program logic is complete with local needs and target group analyzes, a review of relevant research on proven effective interventions, an appropriate intervention design, and a plan for follow-up and evaluation. The effects will be evaluated in phase two of the project when the intervention is piloted in at least two municipalities. Among expected effects are improved school outcomes and improved mental well-being.
Approach and implementation
SALAR/SKL , together with four co-applicants, has set up a working group where the project coordinator have the overall responsibility for the project´s progress. In the working group, project timeframe and key outputs have been decided upon. Each project party have then been responsible for providing the local data and knowledge base necessary for delivering agreed key outputs. In addition, external experts in a number of related fields have contributed with input on the intervention as well as the evaluation plan and selection of measurement instruments.
