Important results from the project
The purpose of the project is to further develop the method that was developed in step 1. The method must continue to be generalizable and can be applied in both large cities and smaller cities. The goal is to obtain knowledge about the effects of mobility measures in new housing properties, as quantifiable conclusions or percentages. By mapping how mobility measures affect residents´ travel habits and car ownership in additional municipalities, as well as studying the effects of expanding existing car clubs with additional cars, both objective and aim were achieved.
Expected long term effects
A quantitative analysis of the data collection from properties and collected statistics showed a range of between 25-50% in reduced parking demand in properties that have mobility measures. In the smaller city that was studied, an effect of 35% reduced demand for parking was noted. The survey gave i.a. additional dimensions to why residents actively sell their car when they move to a property with mobility measures, where access to public transport and mobility measures together with the cost and regulation of parking were the most important reasons.
Approach and implementation
The study can be divided into two parts. The first part includes a survey in properties with mobility measures, in three different municipalities. The survey included questions about the awareness, use and perception of the mobility measures. In the second part, an analysis was made of the results of two expanded car clubs. Two existing car clubs, with one car each, were expanded to two cars. The use of the car clubs was then analyzed, to see if and how an expanded existing car club affected the residents´ car club use.
