Important results from the project
Mobile Life´s research is based on design-led exploration of novel technology. We envision an enjoyment society, where happiness, pleasure and playfulness are key factors. The technology trend that supports this is an emerging consumer-oriented Internet of Things (IoT). To map out and understand this future development, the centre performs strategic innovation by collaboratively creating and evaluating enjoyment services that will make the vision of an enjoyment society a reality.
Expected long term effects
While the results have many components, we can roughly organize their impact on partner in different themes. In the following, we will first outline three such high-level results: Putting enjoyment on the map for IT & Telecom partners; Putting IoT on the map for consumer-product partners and Designing with IoT-materials: things, data and methods. However, to get a proper understanding for how the centre´s work affects our partners on a day-to-day basis, it is essential to get into the nitty-gritty of how we conduct projects together.
Approach and implementation
The overall strategy is to offer a pre-competitive arena where all the partners contribute to and debate possible futures. Together, we articulate an Operational Plan (a multi-stage process of workshops and discussions), visions for particular domains, engage in foresight work within the centre bringing out specific joint research projects. This result both in needs-driven, strategic innovation projects in the centre, and in interaction between partners from different markets and public sectors creating for a broader eco-system of consumer-oriented Internet of Things.
