Important results from the project
I this project we have developed a prototype for an interactive training environment for safety in mines. The expected outcome from the research study has been a mapping of how application of serious game and gameification techniques in the prototype as a means to convey safety routines was received by the workers and safety experts within the mining industry. The results have been overwhelmingly positive and can now be used to invite investors and customers.
Expected long term effects
We have reached our main goal, to develop a prototype and test it together with researchers on the adressed target group. The result of the research study show that the tested interactive training environment was perceived positively by the respondents and that it would make a great tool for learning of safety routines in the industry. Thanks to this project we are now ready to present the result to investors and customers such as mining industry companies in Sweden and internationally.
Approach and implementation
To fulfill the goals formulated in the study purpose, both qualitative and quantitative methods were used, mainly forms complemented with quality interviews. The interactive training environment was seen as conveying information and rules in an easy, accessible, fun and clear way. According to the study results, the interactive training environment can be recommended for teaching knowledge in safety routines. The results point to the fact that the training environment has potential to contribute to increased risk awareness and decreased risktaking amongst mineworkers.
