Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to develop methods for unsteady aerodynamics and acoustic simulations. The project has had four goals. Goal 1: Develop new methods for turbulence-resolving flow simulations and apply them to industrial problems. Goal 2: Develop new multigrid methods for higher order finite difference methods. These methods may be included in next generation streaming simulation calculations. Goal 3: Develop effective acoustic wave propagation methods for industrial problems. The final goal was to disseminate knowledge from the project.
Expected long term effects
Goal 1 has resulted in a doctoral thesis by Sebastian Arvidson, who was defended at Chalmers University of Technology on June 12, 2017. Goal 2 has led to new methods which show better features than standard multigrid methods. The results have been presented both as conference contributions and in scientific papers. Goal 3 resulted in a licentiate thesis which Johan Hammar presented at KTH 2016-12-15. The final goal has also been fulfilled by project workshops as well as several international conference presentations and journal papers.
