Status Completed
Venture The strategic innovation programme for Metallic material

Important results from the project

The aim of the project has been to develop a modern, appealing, easy-to-use and flexible educational material on metallic materials. The main deliverables from the project are two complete education packages for aluminium, representing two different target skill levels, and a corresponding app for both iOS and Android, that serves as a platform for hosting the material and with possibilities to add both current and newly developed education material.

Expected long term effects

The app that has been developed represents a new approach and provides a good basis for spreading knowledge about metals and to create an increased interest for metals in various target groups. This is also a platform where education material about metals easily can be added. The project has also provided an insight in the possibilities with apps and gamification, which are of value for further work. Also, there has been a strong demand for the developed education material for aluminium, particularly from high schools.

Approach and implementation

As a first step in the project, interviews were performed with representatives from companies, universities and institutes. The purpose of the interviews was to map and analyse the need for education material for metals, regarding technical content and from a pedagogic perspective. Through the interviews input was received regarding layout and content, and how new and currently available material needs to be adopted in order to fit various target groups. Based on this analysis the work with developing the app and the writing of education material became straight forward.
