Important results from the project

The purpose of the step two grant was to ensure Meela App was ready for scale-up. Before the grant Meela´s matching algorithm was only 60% automated, which precluded us from scaling above 300 matches/year. Without showing growth, we couldn´t attract additional external capital. This grant ensured Meela became a scalable market ready product with fully automated matching, which enable us to grow rapidly. As such, we have now been able to successful secure international investment, enabling us to launch Meela in the UK.

Expected long term effects

Step 2 accomplished all of the goals set out. We achieved from this project: 1. Optimised the Meela algorithm for instant patient-therapist matching for 99% of all patient matches. 2. The patient drop-out rate has remained low (under 3%) 3. Compliance and GDPR has been bolstered with the help of lawyers 4) Optimal growth channels have been identified. Validating unit economics for user growth. 5) Secured external funding 6) Launched in a new market (UK)

Approach and implementation

We have been able to achieve Meela´s readiness for scaleup. We successfully automated the matching algorithm so it is now able to match patients automatically, without relying on human review. This enabled us to secure external funding and launch Meela in a new market - the UK. The biggest hinderance was lowering the CAC to 50 euros. We realised organic growth takes longer than we anticipated. This has been a great learning. From this project we are able to understand Meela´s biggest growth channels and can continue to iterate with our marketing tests to ensure CAC is at the optimal level soon.
