Important results from the project

MT4H should be a catalyst to get more medtech ideas to be implemented in healthcare, drive efficiancy and strengthening the medtech industry. The tools consist of calls for proposals and various activities to remove obstacles that stand in the way of achieving the visions. These activities include training and advocacy at various levels both within and outside Sweden. During the first three years, MT4H has supported about 140 projects with SEK 65MSEK through open calls. MT4H has also, since its evaluation managed a number of strategic activities and financed these with SEK 64MSEK.

Expected long term effects

Most of MT4H budget is spent on supporting the development and implementation of medical technology. This is mainly due to medical technology projects being able to apply for funding in open calls. In addition to funding, the program has worked with various project support activities to support the ongoing development and implementation projects in a structured manner, and to collect and visualize the results. Two examples of such project support activities are the opportunity to participate in different fairs like MTD and Project acceleration where a business coach is offered.

Approach and implementation

In Dec 2018, 95 projects have been completed and these submit a report to Vinnova and MT4H with a number of questions that measure against the program´s objectives. Some ex are: >50% of projects have been verified in clinical environment >60% of projects have resulted in increased TRL levels by at least one step 22% of projects have led to new jobs >80% of the projects have led to new or developed partnershipsimportance for the R&D and innovation activities. A majority estimate that they will receive revenue within 5y >50% of the projects resulted in improved business models or strategies.
