Important results from the project

The project increased Innventia´s technical know-how and market expertise for packaging applications using bio-based active materials. Within the project, several families of active materials were developed. Innventia generated a commercially and technically verified concept for a mechano-active food packaging. The concept was produced and tested on a commercial pilot scale at the converter.

Expected long term effects

Innventia has increased its know-how within active bio-based materials. Innventia also carried out and used an extensive market analysis for different types of active materials. By working with a Swedish material supplier and international converter and clients, the project will lead to growth in the form of increased exports.

Approach and implementation

The project was planned in 4 stages, all with a special focus on minimizing the identified risks for the project. It was carried out by a team consisting of an experienced project leader, a material scientist, as well as driven and competent experts, both internal and external, with knowledge of innovation and market-driven packaging development. The team functioned very well and was efficient. Certain delays in the project were caused by the fact that the project depended on the converter having time between paid jobs to run the tests.
