Important results from the project
The project has shown the possibility and the importance of being able to measure flatness in a hot strip mill process (finishing mill and cooling section) as well as showing that the measurement system can generate data that is suitable for real-time control.
Expected long term effects
The availability of a measurement system capable of generating high resolution flatnesss data with high accuracy in a hot strip mill enables completely new opportunities for process development and control.
Approach and implementation
The project activities has included production/installation/integration/test of measurement systems, modification of the production line, test measurement, analysis of test data, and verification. The cooperation between the three project parties has been very good.
