Important results from the project

The purpose of the project was to test "Presto", a control system for controlling and researching quantum computers, on the market. This was done by developing Presto from a prototype to a finished product and by manufacturing several demo units that were sent to leading researchers and companies in the field. Through these "demo users" we have been able to demonstrate the value of a Presto system in several different applications and it has already led to at least one sale.

Expected long term effects

The project has led to Presto´s technology readiness level being raised from 5 to 8 and it has been launched as a product for sale. It has also led to several positive field studies where Presto has been used in research labs and the benefits have been validated. We have also presented Presto at a scientific conference. The project has already led to at least one sale, but thanks to the insights and exposure from the field studies and the conference we expect to see a noticeably accelerated establishment of Presto on the market, with positive effects for years to come.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out in principle according to plan, but suffered an early delay due to the semiconductor shortage that has arisen after the pandemic, which led to long delivery times of some critical components. The delay could be mitigated by extending the project´s end date and postponing the shipping of the demo units. It was then possible to implement the project without any increased costs but with the same positive results.
