Important results from the project

The project has fulfilled its aim well by establishing cooperation with a partner as well as a potential customer in South America, clarifying the market potential and generating feedback from users to adapt Enaiblers´ system to the region´s specific needs. The objectives have been achieved through collaboration with a national reference laboratory in Ayacucho, where new users have interacted with the system in a pilot study. Through the study and demos with other stakeholders in Peru, we have gained a deeper understanding of the market´s needs and necessary system adaptations.

Expected long term effects

The result of the project mainly consists in Enablers being able to identify which system adaptations are required related to sample types and working methods used in Peru. Initial adaptations have been carried out and around 10 users in Peru have interacted with the system over 3 months. Discussions to continue collaboration are ongoing to refine the image acquisition process, collect additional data, and iterate the training of additional AI models. A major pharmaceutical company, with ongoing activity in Peru, has shown interest in the solution and quarterly meetings have begun.

Approach and implementation

Finding a suitable study partner took longer than expected, but meetings with various stakeholders greatly enhanced our understanding of the South American market. A relevant partner was identified, and a joint study protocol was developed to ensure engagement and clarity, despite some initial uncertainty about the system´s capabilities. The new sample type presented challenges, but these were addressed, allowing the study to be completed as planned. These challenges provided valuable insights into the necessary adaptations for the next steps.
