Purpose and goal

Increase the confidence to, as well as improve the efficiency of, the handling of forensics data from the vehicle in order to meet needs concerning incident liabilities.

Expected effects and result

The project aims to provide the vehicle industry with tools in the form of processes, methods, and mechanisms to aid forensics investigations, and support liability investigations. The benefits include more efficient root cause analysis that can lead to faster product updates to address issues, increased trust in vehicle digital forensics evidence, and guidance to engineers who want to design a vehicle to aid future forensics analysis.

Planned approach and implementation

Structurally the project is divided into five work packages, where one is the overall coordination and led by Volvo Technology. Each work package is divided into tasks, with clear deliverables to meet the project goals. Work packages as well as tasks are led by project partners. The project duration is three years, where an initial phase investigates the needs amongst stakeholders, which forms guiding input to the other work packages.
