Important results from the project

LOVIS4C (Logistics Visibility for Circularity) was a 6-month feasibility study for a larger research and innovation project towards circularity and resource-efficient manufacturing. LOVIS4C aimed to investigate how resource consumption and environmental impact of extended production systems (including repair, reuse, remanufacturing and recycling) can be minimized by sharing information in the supply chain. The study led to participation in the submitted and granted project VIVACE, where the LOVIS4C team is responsible for a work package.

Expected long term effects

LOVIS4C resulted in: (1) an in-depth dialogue with the project´s partners about the role that information transparency plays in supply chains, (2) an initiated broader industry study with about 20 companies about information in supply chains and how it can enable circularity - a study that is planned to be completed within VIVACE, and (3) the work led to a clearer project description and effort in the granted 2.5-year project VIVACE.

Approach and implementation

LOVIS4C brought together three universities, two manufacturing companies, a system supplier and a standardization organization in a joint dialogue around the theme of supply chain information and its role for circularity. The work was carried out in a workshop format with these key partners, and also in the form of a wider Delphi study with around 20 manufacturing companies involved. The Delphi study was started within the framework of LOVIS4C and is planned to be completed in the new project VIVACE.
