Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project intends to use lignin to replace the formaldehyde in chipboard in the form of a completely bio-based product. Project results have generated that demo copies of lignin-based chipboards have been manufactured that exhibit water-repellent properties. Furthermore, the results show that the material is more like composite than expected, which provides a good knowledge base for further development projects.
Expected long term effects
By combining Biosorbe´s water-repellent material with RenFuel´s lignin-based thermosetting plastic promising initial attempts have been made which indicate good opportunities to manufacture a renewable alternative to chipboards. The project has resulted in a reconsideration of comparative material. The results show that a) the homogeneity in the material needs to be improved and that b) with the results obtained, the comparative material against which further development takes place is now being reconsidered. A more plastic-like than chipboard-like material was obtained.
Approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project´s actors have produced and evaluated test series of lignin-based chipboard with regard to mechanical performance, resistance to moisture and fire and an ongoing study of its resistance to microbial attack.
