Important results from the project

Objective A: To identify and contact potential customers. Fulfillment: A market analysis has been initiated and initial contacts have led to two letters of intent, from two large and relevant industrial companies, regarding collaborations on feasibility studies for possible pilot projects. Objective B: Experimental verification. Fulfillment: Two aluminium windings have been successfully manufactured. An initial experimental evaluation and analysis of these has been carried out. Results and conclusions have been discussed with potential customers.

Expected long term effects

A market analysis has been initiated and initial contacts have led to two letters of intent from two large and relevant industrial companies. Feasibility studies together with these actors are the natural next step. These feasibility studies would aim to lay the foundation for proper pilot projects. Overall, the conclusion is that aluminum windings should work very well, but the tests and the “desk research” that was carried out highlighted a number of risk factors and potential problems. The ambition now is to evaluate potential solutions to minimize the effect of these.

Approach and implementation

The work was led by the main party, Hagnesia AB. It was carried out by a small consortium consisting of the main party, a potential customer who provided a very valuable customer perspective and an industry expert who with her unique knowledge and strong network contributed with very valuable efforts. The project had a very limited budget and time budget. Therefore, it was very challenging to reach all the ambitious goals that were set. A non-negligible amount of unpaid overtime had to be invested. Despite this, our conclusion is that this was a very successful and well-executed project.
