Important results from the project

Leda Grönt has further developed Green Kaizen as a tool for environmental improvements in industry and focused green innovation management on AstraZeneca, Scania and Inmotion, also contributing to dissemination in SMEs as part of Produktionslyftet´s pilot Ekolyftet. The method is now a global standard at AstraZeneca and Scania. Green Kaizen is used in courses at universities and for professionals, and has been presented in a variety of contexts. The project has produced research papers, an animated film about the method, an updated printed manual and recorded presentations.

Expected long term effects

Leading green has exceeded expectations on several levels. The Green Kaizen method was developed over 10 years ago, but it is not until now the timing is right for environmental improvements in industry. The simplicity of the method in combination with its implementation potential seems to create the commitment needed at different levels of production. Despite 30 years of lean kaizen, the environmental aspects have not been focused. Green kaizen has proven to contribute to a unique approach beginning to spread widely in Sweden, and is about to go global via AstraZeneca and Scania.

Approach and implementation

Lead Green has been about green innovation management for sustainable producing industry. The starting point was to implement the environmental improvement method green kaizen, i.e. dealing with change and innovation management. The project was carried out by KTH Södertälje and RISE / Chalmers in close collaboration with AstraZeneca, Scania and Inmotion (SME). Though Covid, the commitment of the companies has been fantastic. They have produced own material for implementation, a large number of green kaizen are implemented, but above all it has led to increased environmental work.
