Important results from the project
Juteborg works with natural fiber jute and jute composites for the industries; Automotive, Construction, Textile and Packaging. In the Jute-hangers project in phase 1, we have developed prototypes for the final product jutekompositgalgar (Textil). The purpose is to reduce the amount of plastic in products. We will directly or indirectly produce other end products in jute composites where Juteborg Esquire Bangladesh Ltd is a producer and supplier of jute granulate. This Jute Hanger project is a pilot project to build knowledge and experience for a large scale industrialization.
Expected long term effects
Juteborg AB will actually contribute to most of the UN´s 17 sustainability goals. If we include the social aspect, we dare to say that jute is the most sustainable material in the world. By refining jute and finding new hight tech applications, we help to strengthen entrepreneurship and women´s empowerment, in the poorest countries, while at the same time helping our Swedish companies become more competitive by replacing less sustainable materials with jute / jute composites. The project has given Juteborg the prerequisite for setting up a jutegranulat factory in BD.
Approach and implementation
The project was divided into the following work packages: WP1: Project Management WP2: State-of-the Art, Investigate Everything. recovery system / models WP3: Tests, Analysis and Evaluation WP4: IPR / patent, investigate possible process patents Juteborg AB has worked in an inclusive process with suppliers, manufacturers, designers, researchers and end customers. The prototypes meet customer requirements, but all parties want to move on to the next step by developing a Circular System / Model for the hangers specifically, which might also be a Pilot for jute composites in general.
