Important results from the project
GROW PIPES AB has now tested and verified the material JutePP in the manufacturing and in the final product with regard to manufacturability, UV resistance, material weight and strength. In the report, we attach the following appendices: Appendix1. U22140_Väderprovning_dragprov_Elastocon Appendix2. U22140_Dragprov_diagram Appendix3. Regelverk_livsmedelsklassificering_Chalmers
Expected long term effects
Producibility: There was no problem filling the details, the material requires drying and intakes may need to be specially designed to fit JutePP. Greater wear and ugly surfaces are to be expected and should be included in the calculations if you are to produce in this material. As expected, the shape shrinkage of pipes made of JutePP was significantly lower than that of pipes made of HDPE. JutePP shrank approx. 0.91%, which can be compared with a form shrinkage of approx. 2.3% for pipes in HDPE. This means that the pipes in JutePP become slightly larger in all dimensions.
Approach and implementation
The setup via Lighter and Vinnova has given us the opportunity to test and verify the material JutePP with our current HDPE material in the manufacturing of our hydroponic cultivation system. The manufacturability was carried out by Pari Plast AB. When it came to UV resistance, as well as strength, we collaborated with Elastocon where, in consultation, we chose to do the aging test in accordance with ISO 4892-3 in order to be able to compare with future samples. When it came to food classification of JutePP, we received help from Marie-Louise Lagerstedt Eidrup at Chalmers Industriteknik.
