Important results from the project
The project has developed technologies and methods for digitizing Scania´s development of electronics and SW, based on linked data.Project results include mainly: Specification Tool, Link Data Modeling Tool, Data Integration Platform, and Analysis and Data Exploration Tool. In addition, linked-data schemas have been developed for the SW architecture, system architecture, collision breakdown, hazard analysis, truck configuration, and parameter setting. In addition, principles have been developed for: multi-level modeling and variability.
Expected long term effects
The expectation has been to in an agile way create a "safety case", which is a systematic argument that the products are safe. In particular, the focus has been on providing safety cases for the entire product line with billions of trucks and not just a few trucks. Together with KTH, Scania has developed a unique method for this. Scania has accepted most of the results from the project and is in a phase of technology transfer to serial development. The project results have resulted in an increased focus, including new employment, in digitization of development data and tools.
Approach and implementation
The project has been run in close collaboration with KTH, with one PhD student and two seniors, where one has been an adjunct professor. All researchers have been sitting more than one day a week at each institution. The collaboration has been very successful because academic research has been driven by the industrial challenges. This has meant that the research results could be used directly by Scania. The academic quality has also been high; for example, the latest of the PhD student´s articles received top marks from the reviewers for the conference "Symposium On Applied Computing".
