Important results from the project
Developing an innovative sustainable structure for knowledge valorisation contributing to economic growth and public wealth, regionally as well as globally. The project has clearly focused the issues of valorisation and innovation in the strategic development agenda. Within the framework of East Sweden Business Region a regional development plan, innovation and smart specialization strategy has been formulated in collaboration with the university. The university has developed a new valorisation policy/strategy, and appointed 18 innovation coordinators.
Expected long term effects
The overall goal was to develop a clear, accessible and effective innovation structure stimulating an increased flow of ideas and knowledge in-between key actors in the region. The project has laid the foundation for a regional partnership in which key actors cooperate on verification, innovation support, seed-funding and entrepreneurial support. Venture Arena is today the largest matching event in Sweden, our incubator LEAD is the best in the country and the project has, during the period 2013-2015, resulted in closer to 110 new companies.
Approach and implementation
The program has focused on six main structures identified as essential for a successful knowledge transfer and commercialisation system: Management, Training, Strategic Liaisons, Entrepreneurial Supply, Incentives and Investments. In all essential aspects the project plan has been followed and implemented against the objectives. The project has also been integrated with other VINNOVA projects relating to strategic valorisation strategies, whereby further positive synergies have been achieved.
