Important results from the project
The purpose of this project we have to study the possibilities to introduce graphene into military camouflage. The project goals included a literature study, a patent survey, a market research on available graphene, prototype manufacturing and spectrometer studies of graphene coated surfaces.
Expected long term effects
The patent survey, as well as the literature study, showed that the research field of electrochromsim using graphene in camouflage, is still young since few relevant documents were found. There are a large number, growing rapidly, of companies selling graphene of various qualities. In this project we have had contact with a few of them to study different technics to use graphene. A innovative method for constructing electrochrome devices (ECD), with and without graphene, in the laboratory was developed and used to study the performance of the ECD´s.
Approach and implementation
In this work we used the PPS (Praktisk Projektstyrning) model. The project included a preparatory phase where we established a time plan, a project plan and set up a joint sharepoint area. The literature study, patent survey and market research was initiated immediately. A number of status meetings where held at both ACREO/LiU and at Saab Barracuda. The meetings where working meetings, for example IR measurements in spectrometer and with IR-camera, as well as reports of results.
