Important results from the project

The goals set were largely achieved. iPROD contributed to increased digitalization by implementing configurators in 3 of the companies. Additionally, 2 open-source tools were developed: one in Digital Twin technology and another for 2D drawing reading. Interviews identified success factors for digitalization projects, e.g. effective stakeholder interaction and adaptive decision-making. The results, published in articles and as open-source tools, constitute lessons for digitalization initiatives.

Expected long term effects

The long-term effects from the iPROD project include increased digitalization within the industry through the implementation of configurators in several companies. The two developed open-source tools, in Digital Twin technology andr for automatic 2D drawing reading, will promote technological innovation and efficiency in future projects. Additionally, the identified success factors for digitalization projects will contribute to improved strategies in upcoming digitalization initiatives.

Approach and implementation

The iPROD project was designed to promote digitalization and automation within the industry, focusing on the implementation of configurators, development of Digital Twin technology, and tools for automatic 2D drawing reading. The activities proved well-suited to the project goals, and development proceeded according to the initial plan. The timeline was largely followed, although certain external factors impacted some aspects. A few unexpected challenges arose but were managed effectively.
