Important results from the project
The health sector has an enormous demand for techniques supporting integration of medical equipment and systems. Systems that frequently are replaced and new equipment is installed. There are also demands for supporting mobility both with regards to equipment, data and people, with maintained integration. The goal of this project is to develop a prototype of a framework offering suitable integration mechanisms as well as a prototype of an integration platform that supports the framework.
Expected long term effects
The result of the project will be an open framework for integration which has a huge commercial potential. The framework itself will be made publicly available. Prototypes of systems supporting the framework will also be developed within the project. A wide acceptance for the framework can be expected to result in a situation where suppliers will make their products support the framework.
Approach and implementation
The full complexity of general integration of systems is overwhelming. In this project we focus on a special domain, healthcare, and work with scaled down scenarios with a reduced number of systems involved. We will progressively increase the complexity. The work is performed in close cooperation between researchers at computer science and personnel from the IT-strategic department and people in the care units.
