Important results from the project

Projektet ICARS aimed to revolutionize the integration of sensors and communication technology in the automotive and mining industries. The goal was to combine radar and communications capabilities to improve safety, efficiency and durability. We succeeded in developing and testing a working RIS prototype. This technical success demonstrated that the concept is feasible, but that further improvements are required to achieve the desired range and performance.

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project was implemented by developing an Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) in the frequency band 76-81GHz to enable real-time tracking and early warning in mining operations. Methods used included prototype development, experimental testing in lab environments, and performance evaluations. the project´s results showed limited range as a significant limitation, which affected the system´s ability to meet the original goals of object detection and positioning.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** Projektet ICARS aimed to integrate radar and communications technology. Despite the successful development of a working RIS prototype, the range was limited, which affected the price picture and efficiency. Further research and testing is planned to improve performance and overcome identified barriers. The collaboration with Volvo Group provided valuable insights and continuous feedback was crucial. Continued collaboration with industry partners is critical to future success.
