Important results from the project

The project has been dealt with various methods of co-creation such as collecting knowledge from the citizens, private companies and city planners through a process involving various stakeholders with different interests and developing compromise solutions. We have also designed a new decision tool supporting such a process and formulated an integrated framework. Three research papers were authored based on results from the project see: https://insightandenlight.preference.nu/reports/.

Expected long term effects

Early integration of the citizens’ involvement is important and that success is strongly dependent on the engagement of the public project leaders. There is a strong interest in the produced framework and tools. In general, there is often a lack of systematics in the work with citizen dialogue. We are now continuing these discussions with The City of Stockholm, Härryda Municipality, Kramfors Municipality and Varberg Municipality as well as the City of Vienna and six cities in Hungary.

Approach and implementation

The framework has been implemented and adapted in three pilots. The first involved the City of Stockholm and urban planning for Nytorps Gärde. There, we tested the survey question and techniques for bridging the survey to the MCDA framework. The second involved urban planning for Landvetter Södra in Härryda municipality, utilizing the survey technique to generate feasible but different scenarios for urban development. The third concerned Kramfors municipality and the development of a local growth strategy while accounting for local, regional and global goals.
