Important results from the project
The main idea is to test an innovative process and production method for chemical modification of a biologics that have significantly higher yield of product compared to today´s process. The idea is based on utilizing recirculation and a new type of production compared with current production technologies. The new production method has been tested experimentally with good results and preliminary evaluation of the technique shows that it is attractive.
Expected long term effects
The result is a number of test runs of a new mode of production in the lab-scale, documented in a report, and process engineering evaluations of the technology. The result of the pilot study proves to have great potential to increase the efficiency and quality of medicines modification. The preliminary study shows how new technologies, new models and new tools can be combined to study new production.
Approach and implementation
The pilot study consisted of three activities; 1. Development on background material: Work on the background theory went very well. The pilot study was able to take advantage of previous results and existing skills. 2. Experimental validation: Initially major problems with getting the expected results. After this was resolved the experimental work has been excellent. 3. Evaluation: Evaluation of experiments and simulations has gone according to plan.
