Important results from the project
The main aim of the project was to look at how to better take advantage of existing value chains and create new services to accelerate the development business propositions matching the great national and international interest municipal waste management evokes. The pilot study that preceded the project identified three type models for municipal waste business models. Each model had its strengths and weaknesses. The business model developed around the Vera Park includes all the models, and takes advantage of the strengths and minimize the weaknesses in the type models.
Expected long term effects
Several business processes were initiated in TIBAL. An AUP between Malmberg Water and Tyréns has been initiated with NSR as a recipient. Vera Park has been developed with new business establishments, resulting in new, complementary infrastructure, creating new jobs and a reduction in transport and a reduction of residues after recycling of waste. The goal to spread the results have been partly achieved through a paper and participation in international research seminars. A public report attached to the final report will contribute to achieving the goal.
Approach and implementation
The exploration phase and the initial part of the defining phase of the project has had a positive outcome. The initiated dialogue with the companies that are active in Vera Park has been so positive that parts of the implementation has been initiated earlier than planned. But because of initial delays in the dialogue, it has not been possible to carry out an initial assessment of the business models. As it was in a late stage of the project that it became clear that the Sustainable Business Hub enters the Vera Park and will test a new approach, this part has not yet been implemented fully.
