Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was to create a sustainable model for rural development in order to coordinate the entire municipal service, and to increase the interaction between private, non-profit actors and the public sector based on the real needs. The model created shows that through the co-operation and coordination of existing resources, conditions are provided for preserving and operating businesses in a qualitative and economically sustained manner based on the needs of the countryside. The model can be applied to other locations if it is adapted to the relevant local context.
Expected long term effects
The evaluation shows that the project exceeds expectations. Collaboration between different actors is ongoing, as employees work cross-functionally throughout the organization, thus enabling higher employment rates and increased community service. Functions within the municipality have shared their knowledge through cross-sectoral meetings and internal education. Common goals for the municipal business have been established, and various skills-enhancing efforts have been offered to employees. All employees have received guidance for their own development.
Approach and implementation
Research has been conducted through interviews and meetings with employees and residents in the village. The project received a separate expense account based on the costs and revenues in Ramsjö 2015. The project office was located in the village and the work was carried out in close collaboration with the residents. A reference group and several workgroups were created to support the project. Getting to know the village and bringing people into transformation processes has been the most important job. The success depends on people´s commitment and courage to make a difference.
