Venture Challenge-driven innovation - Phase 2 Collaboration

Important results from the project

The project´s objective has been to test, develop and validate agile production automation opportunities for commercial upscaling in the Swedish and global construction sector. The project has collaborated in a competence alliances, introduced robot automation in the workplace, prepared for the introduction of robot-automated construction systems for prefabrication as well as on site. The project has developed new technical solutions, new methods and working methods, as well as new ways of collaborating and is gathered in what the project calls the ACon-method.

Expected long term effects

Successful introductions have the potential to improve the work environment by reducing or eliminating work steps that are accident-prone or ergonomically stressful. This leads to increased gender equality as the need for heavy work steps is replaced by other more qualified tasks. The robot´s movements are recorded and documented continuously. This increases the quality of planning and execution as information about the work is continuously updated and documented in a completely digital process. Productivity increases through a digitized and robotic process.

Approach and implementation

In the project, solutions for robotic construction in design, planning, business model, technology, and implementation have been developed and tested. The solutions are gathered in the ACon model, which is an holistic view of the introduction of construction robotics for the work site. The five parts of the model consist of - Information structure, Building system, Digital Design, Robotics and Construction. The parts enable the basis both for a disruptive business model for detached houses together with AChoice and in a traditional business model together with Fojab and Peab.
